Here's a relevant quote from Rostand's Cyrano de Bergerac on Don Quixote:DE GUICHE: About the chapter on windmills! CYRANO (bowing):     Chapter Thirteen. DE GUICHE: For when you tilt at windmills you often find... CYRANO: You tilt at men who change with every wind? DE GUICHE: That a swirl of the sails on their huge arms will hurl you in the mire!... CYRANO:      Or among the stars!(Thank you for that, Jenny Ng. :)This film was selected for the 2012 inCINEracion Film Festival in Spain for May. I visited Blue Tsuki's exhibit at Split Screen called "Adagio," with the magic windmills and I thought immediately of Don Quixote. So then I wrote a poem from the windmills' point of view: they're glad to be thought giants instead of just windmills. Then I made the machinima, modified the poem even more, made it as dramatic as possible and here it is. :D Blue's exhibit in Second Life is a peaceful, even melancholy one, with ethereal music and the sound of its floating vases striking against each other. I've given it a different ambience. "Tilt"What fortune, my fellow engines.A madman means to engage us in battle. He sees us for what he hopes we are:not dumb machines that make their daily bread, but Ideas of Disaster.Let him tilt at us joyfully. And we will humor him as monsters. For he sees us for what we are:something that will toss him into himselfso he can pierce the fabric of reasonalthough it may break his brain. So swing your arms and wings and unvoice his man.Beckon him forward, giants, like his imagined angel.Keep him from seeing what they think we are: blind mills grinding on a sullen plain.Hypatia Pickens© April 13, 2012
